While rambling about on the moon’s surface, the Apollo astronauts spent a lot of time training their Hasselblad EDC cameras at the scenery, and occasionally went to the effort to capture a sequence of shots making up a complete circle. Now, over 30 years later, a chap by the name of Hans Nyberg has taken these shots, as well as some actual radio clips from the missions, and stitched them together into outstanding 360 degree Quicktime panoramas of the moon’s landscape.
Within the Quicktime panoramas, you can click and drag the image to alter the angle of view freely. These images have high enough resolution that they look gorgeous at full screen, and the audio from actual radio transmissions makes for an incredible ambiance. Some of the other VR panoramas on the site are worth checking out as well.
