Looks cool, though.

It makes me think about religions and faiths around the world, I have been to a monastery in England before and it was beautiful and this story reminds me about it (Although there where no mummies!). The Yamagata monks who are lost on the grounds is so sad and yet so beautiful that they believed so much in their faith they where willing to die for it and weren’t even praised for it like the others.

The very first thing that the Buddha taught after his Enlightenment was The Middle Way, avoiding the two extremes of luxury and self-mortification. He had spent seven years before his enlightenment practicing self-mortification, and so he made avoiding this the very foundation of his teachings.

I love all of the stuff that I never would have thought of, never would have even conceived of, if not for you wonderful people. I wonder what other cultures/civilizations used mummification…it’s worthy of investigation, for sure.

Were I not a poor college student, I would donate so much more. Thanks and keep it up, DI crew!
